Goodbye Is Such Sweet Sorrow…

The day finally came. 1 year, 8 months and 13 days of being reluctantly loyal to the one entity that has taught me the meaning of friendship, cronism and doormatism is finally over.

Yep, I’m talking about my "loyalty" to HSBC a.k.a. HDPM. Today, 28th April, marks the historical occasion of being my last day as a Global Support Exec @HSBC. I had expected today to be amazingly joyous, with a slight sadness while I’m saying my goodbyes to the few friends I have in HSBC. What I didn’t expect was the sense of loss and heartache that actually came as I bade farewell to each and every one of my friends… What I least expected was tears…

I started out by passing on the little trinkets I bought for those closest to me, nothing really special, but truly from my heart. I then handed them my address book for them to jot down their addresses or comments… I didn’t dare peek at the book for fear that whatever they wrote might affect me… After dinner, I went on and bade my farewells to my old EFT teammates, my old bosses, trainers and those who I believe would miss me when I’m gone - there weren’t many.. Took some pictures, and went straight back up to clear my locker…

After all the official matters were sorted, a couple of my frens gave me some farewell gifts… Honestly, I did not expect that much, as I thought that I didn’t leave an impact on some of them at all!! It was really sweet of them anywayz… Finally, my bosses in FD, rounded up the team for my last FD briefing ever (literally)… We then started the farewell hugs and handshakes, some of which were too emotional to bear…

When I finally reached home after a farewell supper with my buddies, I finally mustered the courage to read my address book. There were pages and pages of heartwarming and crazy notes that brought tears of sadness and laughter to my eyes… It was at this moment that I realised… that however crappy or unjust working with HSBC was or how much I was yelled at by customers… I was extremely lucky. I was lucky because I believe I found my true calling for a writing career, lucky because I’ve achieved job satisfaction while I was with FD, lucky to have learned about the world and banking, lucky to have learned a little bit of patience… but most of all, extremely lucky to have made so many real friends that I will sorely miss…

Imag0151So to all of my frenz, this is for you… To those who has lent me their ears, shared their laughter and opened their hearts to me, there are no words to express how grateful I am to each and every one of you… To those whom I’ve hurt or mistreated, please accept my sincerest apology.. And to those I did not get to say goodbye, namely the Wills and E-Savings team, goodbye and all the best!

I will REALLY miss you all… :(
