Jobless In Freedomland!

Filed under: Uncategorized — hazedazed at 1:21 pm on Friday, April 29, 2005

1st day of temporary freedom… I didn’t quite know how to deal with it actually… It has been awhile since i was er… "jobless".. :P First thing that was on my agenda was… self-pampering!

On the way back from the pampering session, was stressed out again by the jam… and to think I’ll have to get used to this!!! Went home to fetch my sis to catch "Tentang Dia" @MidValley…

Honestly, it was quite a let-down… I can’t even believe some people can compare it to Ada Apa Dengan Cinta! No contest man… It was super slow, no action, unoriginal storyline and borderline boring… The only praise I can give for the movie is the effort, poetry and the songs… You can never go wrong with Melly!

I’d better get some shuteye, tomorrow I’m off to Penang with my dad and sisters till Monday… Hope I can adjust my sleeptime by Tuesday when I have to start waking up at 6.00 am to go to work… If not, I’m DOOMED!!!

Till Monday then… daaaaaaa!!!

Goodbye Is Such Sweet Sorrow…

The day finally came. 1 year, 8 months and 13 days of being reluctantly loyal to the one entity that has taught me the meaning of friendship, cronism and doormatism is finally over.

Yep, I’m talking about my "loyalty" to HSBC a.k.a. HDPM. Today, 28th April, marks the historical occasion of being my last day as a Global Support Exec @HSBC. I had expected today to be amazingly joyous, with a slight sadness while I’m saying my goodbyes to the few friends I have in HSBC. What I didn’t expect was the sense of loss and heartache that actually came as I bade farewell to each and every one of my friends… What I least expected was tears…

I started out by passing on the little trinkets I bought for those closest to me, nothing really special, but truly from my heart. I then handed them my address book for them to jot down their addresses or comments… I didn’t dare peek at the book for fear that whatever they wrote might affect me… After dinner, I went on and bade my farewells to my old EFT teammates, my old bosses, trainers and those who I believe would miss me when I’m gone - there weren’t many.. Took some pictures, and went straight back up to clear my locker…

After all the official matters were sorted, a couple of my frens gave me some farewell gifts… Honestly, I did not expect that much, as I thought that I didn’t leave an impact on some of them at all!! It was really sweet of them anywayz… Finally, my bosses in FD, rounded up the team for my last FD briefing ever (literally)… We then started the farewell hugs and handshakes, some of which were too emotional to bear…

When I finally reached home after a farewell supper with my buddies, I finally mustered the courage to read my address book. There were pages and pages of heartwarming and crazy notes that brought tears of sadness and laughter to my eyes… It was at this moment that I realised… that however crappy or unjust working with HSBC was or how much I was yelled at by customers… I was extremely lucky. I was lucky because I believe I found my true calling for a writing career, lucky because I’ve achieved job satisfaction while I was with FD, lucky to have learned about the world and banking, lucky to have learned a little bit of patience… but most of all, extremely lucky to have made so many real friends that I will sorely miss…

Imag0151So to all of my frenz, this is for you… To those who has lent me their ears, shared their laughter and opened their hearts to me, there are no words to express how grateful I am to each and every one of you… To those whom I’ve hurt or mistreated, please accept my sincerest apology.. And to those I did not get to say goodbye, namely the Wills and E-Savings team, goodbye and all the best!

I will REALLY miss you all… :(

Sickly Sweet Insomnia

Sunset Wow… I’d never thought sunrise would be so beautiful today… But then again, it’s probably just me… It’s been quite awhile since I last saw one, due to the fact that I work till late at night and watch tv till the wee hours of subuh… pray, and fall asleep before the sun came up! The only view I normally get to see is the sunset, like the pix…

But today’s different… I fell asleep at 11.30 last night, and woke up just in time for subuh prayers and to witness the sunrise!!! Ah.. the advantages of being sick…

Yep, wasn’t feeling well yesterday, was abit feverish.. so managed to fall asleep early thanx to the medication… Hopefully, I wont need any medication to sleep early next time… Getting tired of the insomnia…

Oh God… another 6 hours before I have to leave for work… What am I supposed to do for the next 6 hours?!?!?! arghhh…

ARGH!!! Weekend’s over… I’m REALLY not looking forward to workin… Think I’m gonna persuade my boss to put me on IBRs… Yeah rite!!!

Newayz, might as well… its the appropriate end to a rather confusing weekend… On Saturday, went BOOK SHOPPING!!! Spent some money that I don’t have, thanks to my trusty credit card… ;P To tuck the guilt away, I’m thinking of it as an investment, for my travelling companion in the future…

Sunday… went to KL… did abit of travel-timing (will be explained in due course…) got stuck in Lot10 for abit bcoz of the rain, so did a lil bit of SHOPPING!!! For something a little bit less intellectual, (but necessary nonetheless ;P)… Again, with some money that I don’t really have… Good ol’ credit card… what would a girl do without you?!?!? Hahaha… Then went and satisfied my Extreme Buzz addiction (I can’t believe I lasted for more than a month without it!!!) For those who’s never had it… you’re missing out on a piece of heaven my frenz!!!

At the end of the day, after all the shopping and tea and dinner and supper and Brownie A-la Mode (yum yum!)… a seemingly perfect day ended with frustration of being "considered" for a position of being someone of a certain importance, one that I thought I had for almost 2 years now… And, as it turns out, I thought wrong…

But that’s life, isnt it? You can only hope for the very best… Only thing is I didn’t prepare myself for the worst so that’s what killed me in the end… But as someone used to say… the show MUST go on… and so it shall…

Unlaughable Ponderings

  • Isn’t it funny… that even with so many ppl around you, you’ve never felt more alone?
  • Isn’t it funny… that even with all the money in the world, you can never buy happiness?
  • Isn’t it funny… that people can be the very best of friends, yet never know who they really are?
  • Isn’t it funny… that even the ugliest creature on earth can love their young so much, yet humans throw their babies away?
  • Isn’t it funny… when you can wear your heart on your sleeve, but the one you love can’t see it?
  • Isn’t it funny… how we can spend kajillions to lose weight, yet can hardly part with a dime to help the hungry?
  • Isn’t it funny… when you can wait for something all your life, it finally comes when you’ve given up?
  • Isn’t it funny… that it takes seconds to fall in love with a stranger, yet it takes a lifetime to fall in love with God?
  • Isn’t it funny… how a thank you and a smile can make your day?
  • Isn’t it funny… how one simple question can lead to a thousand more?
  • Isn’t it funny… that I’m so damn tired but can hardly fall asleep???

Land Of The Free

Here’s what I learned today. People will practically do almost anything for a freebie. That includes free food, free cosmetics, free anything. I came upon this conclusion while I was in the surau, getting "dolled up" after prayers… hehe

A couple of ladies were going round the room with a piece of paper and a pen, getting signatures. It’s all becoz of the "Know Your Colleagues" thingy where you collect as many signatures as possible, and whoever has the most will.. u guessed it.. win a free dinner! For those who actually took the opportunity to REALLY get to know their colleagues, u know.. like creating small talk or taking the trouble of shaking the person’s hand… good for them!! But of course, there’s those few oddballs who really were just in it for the prize.. Took the signature without even looking the person in the eye… hmmm…

But hey, who am I kidding? I’m sort of a freebie junkie myself… I got home today and got all excited coz I found the latest Metrojaya brochure on my bed… Skimming through, I saw that they were giving out miniature Shiseido products, free makeover.. etc. Fantastic! Then… i saw the date… it expired today!!! Argh… Serves me right for not checking my mail more often…

Fact of the matter is, freebies are the next best thing to winning prizes… We don’t get that very often, do we? Besides, it doesn’t hurt that freebies do cut our costs, even if its for 1 cent… That said… I wonder when will Malaysian magazines start giving out NOVELS as freebies like they do in the UK? I think I have enough moisturiser samples already… ;P
