My Active Little Munchkin

Halooooooooo!

Its been a while since i last updated Deena’s development… So here’s some of the new tricks she’s mastered over the months:

  • Clapping when she’s happy or excited
  • Doing some of the actions to the song “When you’re happy and you know it…” ie: clapping, slapping her knees etc (She tries to snap her fingers but of course tak jadik la kan.. I know grown adults who can’t do it.. huhu)
  • My girl LOVES music. If she hears a song with an uptempo beat, she will start dancing, rocking her body to and fro in time with the music. If she’s standing she will use her knees too!
  • Her current fave song is Jason Mraz - I’m yours.. If she starts to cry, play this song and she will automatically stop crying and start “dancing” to the music! Don’t ask me why… ;P
  • Waving goodbye ala princess/miss universe (super cute!)
  • Making the same gesture everytime she hears the word “Habis”
  • Can high five
  • Saying “Mama” (for me), “Abah” (for my hubby), “Dada” (for “Jidda”, what she calls my mom — its arabic for grandma) and of course, “Mamam” (whenever she sees her food or me preparing to breastfeed her hehe. Oh and she also says it when she wants to be fed!)
  • Lotsa babytalk like Gagagagaga or Blablablabla
  • Feeding herself from a plate
  • Tak teh at warp speed!
  • Cruising — walking while holding on to the couch or push toy
  • Climbing on her push toy cum tricycle (tricycle?? it has 4 wheels ler.. hehe) by herself
  • Climbing up the stairs!! She just climbed 7 steps while my mom just turned her back for a few minutes! (This one paling pening skali. Anyone know where to get cheap baby safety gates??)
  • Pulling out heavy drawers and cupboard doors (tak padan ngn kecik!)
  • Scolding ppl ie: Haip!! or Ah!! with a garang face
  • Putting handphones, toy phones, remotes to her ear everytime as if talking on the phone… :D
  • She’s scared of my hubby’s pet cat in Banting named Mogi. She’ll scream and hug me/hubby super tight whenever she sees Mogi. But then again, I’m scared of Mogi too! Huhuhu.
  • Tapping my arm every time I hug her or try to put her to sleep, just like how I tap her bum lightly to put her to sleep :)

Well methinks that’s all I can remember at the moment. I’m sure there’s more but I just cant remember them all sometimes.. Mommie-brain, you know. Huhu. Newayz, just so you know, my Deena is 9 months and 3 weeks old already. Do you think her development is ok for her age? Anyone knows, do advise.. Till next entry then, ciao!

Wa-hey!!!

Wow. I just realized friendster did an upgrade on their blog system thingy. Ok not JUST realized it, i got an email from them informing me about the upgrade and if I wanted to be one of the first to use the new settings, but I was just too preoccupied at the time to really take note. With what you may ask?

Well, alot have happened since I last wrote. I know I promised to write more on the “Sniff Sniff” entry but because the last month was just too crazy, I’ve not been able to follow through with my promise. My deepest apologies to those who have been waiting…

So what happened, you ask? Well, lemme just put a simple timeline of what happened. Don’t feel like writing in the detail as its 4.35 pm and only 25 minutes to go before I have to dash home to prepare food for breaking fast. So here’s the timeline for now:

Hubby got diarrhea — I got diarrhea — Deena got diarrhea — Mom got it too — My cousin living with me mom also got it — Was in bed for 5 days straight trying to recover — Deena got admitted into KJMC for 2 days because of the diarrhea and vomiting — Went to Tawau, Kota Kinabalu, Kundasang and Karambunai for a total of 5 days — Welcomed Ramadhan with Jojet and the gang @ Pantai Klanang while watching the sunset — 1st day of Ramadhan at Banting — Got bad sniffles and sneezing frenzy from eating one too many big fat prawns in Banting — Deena got allergic reaction too (swollen ears, fingers and spots all over) — Went to buka puasa buffet at Palace Beach & Spa Resort — Deena’s tooth had an “accident” with a babychair table and is still healing, albeit a lil crooked now huhu — Buka puasa buffet at Sunway Tower Hotel with family and extended family.

PHEW! Turns out it wasn’t very simple after all, huh? Told ya alot has happened. Unfortunately alot of them had to do with sicknesses and mishaps, esp for my poor poor baby Deena. So you can imagine how stressed and burnt out I am tending to her and everything else in the picture. However I am still thankful to Allah that she’s better now and as active as ever! I hope there will be no more bad luck coming… Don’t think I can take much more… huhu.

Well, I still owe you the “Sniff Sniff” entry update, so I guess you will have to wait a lil bit more coz right now.. its DASH-LIKE-MAD-THROUGH-PJ-JAM time! Wish me luck!

SniFF SniFF!!!

Hiya Peeps!

Well, it’s been a while since i last wrote… and its not because i was busy with work or anything.. i was just rather… preoccupied. With what you might ask? Well, all in good time my pretties… all in good time… :)

First things first. I’m pleased to announce that I have successfully sold ALL of the perfumes listed in my previous entries. The best sale was probably the last one, a girl named Linn bought both the Moschino & MNG perfumes and i gave her an extra discount and some freebies for helping me clear out my stock this time around. Thanx dear! So far I’m proud to say that all my buyers are happy with the products i sold them and there were a few repeat businesses as well.

To those who were still enquiring about the perfumes, i apologize for not being able to accomodate your needs for now… the perfumes were selling like hot cakes and I had go by the first come first serve basis. Do look up this blog in the future, you never know what I might be offering for sale next!

So speaking of sales, as most of you should know by now.. its the infamous MegaSale nationwide. And of course, the madness is only just beginning. I can’t help but be swept away with the madness too! I mean, how can I not? All the departmental stores are having members sale on top of the megasale promotions, boutiques that hardly ever have sales are cutting prices down to 50% or more.. and when you think you can’t take anymore.. there are warehouse sales popping up like mushrooms after a rainstorm! Since June, I’ve been to 2 warehouse sales, 1 Jusco members sale, 1 Ikea sale and a few more boutiques’ sales. I don’t even dare to peek at my credit card bills coz i fear i might swoon and drop like a fly. Huhuhu.

There is one major culprit to my shopping mania… a website i frequent daily that lists down all the sales ever known to Malaysians living in the Klang Valley. I am seriously addicted to this site that I’m wondering if there is such a thing as Shopaholics Anonymous that I can sign up with. Its been a helluva ride for these last couple of months, and I’m seriously considering locking up my credit card and ATM card and throwing away the key. But of course, that will never happen… I always talk myself out of it in the end.. haha.

But i guess its not all bad. During these sales, i made quite a few new friends over the internet — fellow shopaholics, too! Some turned out to be really good friends who share shopping tips and insider infos while others display the darker side of shopping mania. Its then that i realize that I’m not THAT bad off.. Some of my new made friends’ pursestrings are even looser than mine. Some have no control whatsoever and just cant stop themselves from going from one sale to another, cash or no cash. Some are even so "kiasu" that they would hold on to the items they want as if somebody’s gonna pry it out of their hands.

I’ve seen so many crazy shopper antics to remind myself never to stoop to that level ever! They are merely material things.. some wont even last that long and you most certainly cant take it to the grave. So if u dont get what you want, perhaps coz its sold out, or you’re out of moolah, or you just plain cant afford it — RELAX. There will be other sales in future when you can shop with the extra cash u collected or look for a better alternatives than the one u initally wanted. I keep telling myself this over and over to avoid myself from being too disappointed. In fact, I even made a wishlist — a list of items i want to own, hopefully in the near future — and its a constant reminder for me to work harder and earn that much more money to afford the things i want.

So here goes…

:: MY WISHLIST ::

1. Honda City - I know i could’ve listed down a more expensive car but I’m starting out with easy, achievable things first. So my dreamcar Toyota Caldina can wait (or hubby can consider getting it someday, haha — *hint hint wink wink*). Why Honda City? Coz i’ve heard really good things about it, and its definitely bigger than my current Kelisa. Its kinda hard to move about in a small car when you have a baby (and all the things that come with a baby) huhu.

Bleecker_leather_patchwork_tote 2. An Original Coach Handbag - Yes, i’ve just been bit by the Coach Handbag Bug. I cant help myself. They’re just so beautiful! But each one costs at least half my salary so thats why this is going straight into my wishlist. I need to save up more to get this! Now you may wonder why i would want an original one when there’s sooo many fakies out there that look just as good as the real thing? Well, because if i wanted to REALLY motivate myself, might as well aspire to get something thats original and really worth the effort. Methinks it would make me love the bag even more. Also, I have never owned an original designer bag in my life save for this small Guess dinner bag that I bought during a warehouse sale.. huhu. Of course, if i were to get one as a present then it doesnt really matter, rite? I love all my presents no matter if its fake or not.. hehehe

3. A Fossil Leather Wallet - There’s this lovely wallet i saw at Jusco… I know its not that expensive, about RM200, but I dont think i can afford it right now so… wishlist it is!

Croc_celeste_laceup 4. A Croc Celeste Lace-Up - Okay, we all know crocs are these super comfy slipper-like footwear that looks like a pair of humongous holey clogs, rite? WRONG!!! These crocs are absolutely DELISH — its casual, feminine, comfy… and way too expensive for me right now.. haha. So no choice but to go straight in my wishlist!

5. A Fossil/DKNY/Guess Watch - To be honest, i already have a watch. A really good one, too. But its really sharp around the edges and i have stopped wearing it ever since i got Deena for fear i might accidentally scratch her with it! (God knows how many times i accidentally scratched myself AND my hubby with it huhu). But I’m sooo not used to having my left wrist this bare so I figure i should get a new watch that’s less dangerous.. huhu. I’ve scouted around abit and found that i like these brands’ designs.. Somehow the bronze metal designs are soo appealing! When i have enuff moolah then perhaps i can get one of them.. huhu.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Well, let’s just start with these 5 first, shall we? If i put too many in, i might get too lazy to pursue it. To fellow shopaholics/bloggers/readers, if you find any good deals on the items listed on my wishlist above, kindly let me know! I would greatly appreciate it.. huhu.

So till next entry then.. toodles!

What I was up to THIS week?

Filed under: Uncategorized — hazedazed at 3:27 am on Friday, June 27, 2008

Heyya!

This week has been pretty crazy for me… in a good way :).

Tuesday

Went to lunch A Mid Valley with hubby, which is a pretty rare occasion. I got to drink my all-time favourite Extreme Mocha and ate my latest addiction: Homi currypuffs. I am a regular currypuff nut, but this Homi puff takes the cake. Its twice the size of Ikea’s infamous currypuff, and its of the "karipap pusing" kind, so its exxxtra crunchy.. Yummm!!! The filling is hot and spicy, and each puff is solidly stuffed. For small eaters, 2 of these puffs and milo or coffee or tea will be enough for lunch! The only downside to it is the price… RM2.50 per puff is pretty ridiculous in my books.. But once I’ve had it.. the ridiculous price kinda makes sense.. ;)

Wednesday

I left the office rather early because of this exciting event I had that night. I went to me moms, fed my baby, changed my clothes and put on abit more make-up and asked my sis to drop me off at the LRT. I got on the train at about 6pm, and planned to meet my hubby in the train when it reached Kerinchi. Where were we headed?? KLCC!!!

We left the station at about 7pm and went to grab a bite to eat. That’s because the place we were headed to offered ridiculously expensive food and we couldn’t wait another 2 hours to eat! Where were we headed to, you may ask?…

7.40pm, we arrived at the KL Convention Centre. We were among the hundreds of people waiting to see… Disney’s Beauty & The Beast Broadway Musical! Yes, I was one of the few people who managed to get the CIMB clicks user discounted tickets. This would be my very first time entering Plenary Hall, so I didn’t know what to expect. Would it as grand as Istana Budaya? I was kinda nervous coz my hubby bought us these lovely RM250 tickets (before discount) and I was afraid that it wouldn’t be as fantastic as I hoped.

Beautybeasttix_1

When we arrived at Plenary hall, we were quite surprised to see almost 90% of the eager audience were wearing black & white attire. It was weird coz we were wearing black and white too.. macam janji la pulak :P. Around 8pm we were ushered into the hall. The usherers were preddy unprofessional, they did little to manage the crowd and there were only one person manning each entrance door, so there were quite abit of pushing involved and there were no queue whatsoever.

The hall was HUGE. However, the design was somewhat less conducive than Istana Budaya. The hall felt too wide, the stretch of seats were too long, and the height difference between one level and the one in front is too small — and i had the misfortune of sitting behind a rather tall girl that blocked almost 20% of my view of the stage. Worst of all, the stage was a wee bit too small for my taste. The only thing i liked was the bigger seats and abit more leg space compared to Istana Budaya’s seats.

We waited for almost 20 minutes before the show started. When the lights dimmed, I was kinda distracted by the light coming from the computer screen they used to project the visual effects on stage. They should’ve put some kind of barrier between the computer and the audience coz the distraction kinda takes your focus away from the stage for us who are seated near the back of the hall. That said, our seats were really good coz we could actually see the actors in detail — such as the flow of Belle’s skirts, Gaston’s fake 6-pack abs, the twittering of LeFou’s knees when he was frightened, etc.

All in all, the show was FANTASTIC. The characters were delightful and believable, the set and effects were awesome, the costumes were amazing and the acting and dancing were simply phenomenal.

They acted out all of the scenes from the movie, sang all the songs i remembered and added a few more for good measure! I was sooo tempted to sing along to "Be Our Guest" (yeah, i kinda memorize it haha) that Lumiere the candlestick sang but I was afraid the people behind me would whack my head with their shoe.. haha. What’s great is the small size of the stage didn’t hinder the dance movements whatsoever! There were plenty of twirling and swirling and can-cans to go around.

There were quite a few surprises too! I was amazed how horrifying the Beast was when he was angry, so much so that the little girl in front of my hubby wanted to leave in fear. His voice was THAT scary. But as the show went on and Belle tamed the Beast, he became much more likeable and at times hilarious! (He had some knee-shaking moments too, hehe).

But my favourite character is still Lumiere. He was my fave in the animated movie, and he’s still the best character in this musical too. Witty, sarcastic and ultimately hilarious, he made the hall laugh out loud with his naughty antics and witty remarks. The Beast was excellent too, and his voice is this heavenly rich baritone that reminds you of those famous tenor singers. Belle’s voice was just as beautiful and almost the same as the voice you hear singing the animation’s soundtrack music.

All in all, I had a marvellous time. I enjoyed every second of the show, despite the distractions and the tall girl in front of me, huhu. Even my hubby who’s not really into musicals thought it was preddy good. After the show, I was so tempted to purchase at least ONE Beauty & The Beast memorabilia sold, but between me n hubby, we only had about RM30 left and we wanted to have some cash on us in case we missed the LRT home.. huhu. I could’ve kicked myself for not bringing some extra cash… grrr!

The last time i went to the theatre, to see Puteri Gunung Ledang, I hung around to wait for the actors to come out and meet the fans. Unfortunately it was already past 11pm, and we needed to catch the LRT so we couldn’t wait for Belle or Beast to come out. I had to settle for a photo taken with a Beauty & The Beast poster instead… Oh well, I’m learning to make lemonade out of lemons… huhu.

To those of you who love musicals, don’t miss this show! In my humble opinion, the show was better than PGL, despite the hall’s shortcomings. It is Broadway, after all. If you’re catching the night show, i recommend you drive there coz the LRT is abit slow closer to midnight. For me, it was worth every one of my hubby’s penny (hehe) and every blister i got from walking too much that night. I went home exhausted, and ultimately happy.

Thursday

I took half day’s leave from work. Me and my sister went into the jungle of KL to get a few things… but I shall not mention them just yet. Wait for my upcoming entry yea! :)

7 Things U-Dont-Need-To-Know About Me

7 Things About Yours Truly

I’ve been tagged by Julie. A month ago! Haha.. Sorry Julie, I just got round to doing this…

So here are the rules…

* Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.

* Share seven random and/or weird things about yourself.

* Tag seven people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.

* Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Ok here goes…

1. I am seriously addicted to frappuccinos. Especially mocha frappuccinos. The richer the better. My favourite is Extreme Mocha from San Fransisco Coffee. It’s my ultimate weakness. My kryptonite. I love it so much, that I attempted to drink 2 regular-sized cuppas just becoz I bought a buy-1-free-1 at Mid Valley the other day and nobody else in my family (except my husband who was absent at the time) could take the rich chocolatey coffee goodness. Coffee-induced migraines be damned.. Huhu.

2. I am sarcastic. Sometimes unintentionally, but most of the time, just for laughs. Not many people can take this side of me though, coz they associate my sarcasm with my renowned temper and automatically assume that I’m Mrs Incredible Hulk. Those who CAN take my sarcasm ends up as my closest friends (and one of them eventually became my husband). That’s probably because they’re preddy much sarcastic people too.. haha

3. I absolutely LOVE the theatre. Anything to do with theatre — plays, pantomimes, musicals, dance, you name it, I love it. There’s just something magical about the big stage.. the larger than life sets.. the orchestra.. the lights, sounds and special effects… that take my breath away. That said, I haven’t been to see that many theatrical shows due to money constraints, but I’ll definitely go whenever I can afford it… Being somewhat musically inclined myself (I can play a few musical instruments like the piano and the piccolo) I love to play music, but just the average kind… no 9th symphony or anything like that… and never EVER on stage! :P

4. I was told that I used to have beautiful, shiny, straight, jet-black hair. When I was young, I cried whenever I had to get a haircut. Even my hairstylist uncle, Dee (comedian from the "Jangan Ketawa" show) who used to be the only person besides my mom who was allowed to cut my hair, despaired whenever I had to have my hair cut. Which explains why I had long hair pretty much all my school life… hehe.

5. I love to write. Ever since secondary school, its what got me good grades in English. My mom noticed this immediately, and suggested that I take up journalism in Uni… But stubborn ol’ me decided to follow the "trend" and took up Computer Science. 1 year in, and already I regretted every minute of it. That said, even though I never became a journalist or a writer, I did write a fair share of publications while I was working. I became an editor of an in-house newsletter, a copywriter in a marketing company and the occasional freelance work. And of course.. I’m a blogger too… when I can find the time!

6. I have a rather famous great-great-grandfather. Ever heard of Syed Sheikh Al-Hadi? He’s a famous Muslim novelist and journalist in the early 1900s.. during Tanah Melayu times… Well, he was my late grandmother’s grandfather, and I remember arwah telling me how strict and serious about education he was. And although I’m nowhere near writing important world-changing articles as he did, I kinda like to think that I got a teensy weensy bit of his genes in me… :)

7. I’m a believer of P.D.A. (Public Display of Affection) — to a certain degree. I like it when the person I love holds my hand in front of his friends, a little peck on the cheek by my hubby, a big hug from my baby, mom or sisters, spoonfeeding your significant other… that kinda thing. All PG-rated of course! I must admit that I wasn’t always a fan of PDA, and in Uni I often looked down on young couples who demonstrated it. I guess I was jealous. Not anymore tho. But now that lil Deena is here, I feel that the romance and level of PDA between hubby and me has dropped down several notches… I hope it wont stay that way tho… *hint hint wink wink to hubby*

Now comes the hard part. Who to tag??? Most of my friends are just too busy to do this kinda thing, and those who aren’t either doesn’t have a blog, has already been tagged or had already tagged me (Julie la tuh! hehe). So here are the lucky (or should I say unlucky?) ppl I’m tagging:

Searching For A Reason To Smile

Been feeling down lately. Been feeling angry, upset, sad, overwhelmed, underappreciated and invisible. I know I’ve been one to always promote a positive outlook to my friends, but somehow I can’t do the same for myself. I just don’t see those green pastures of the other side, no matter how hard I look. I just feel like crap.

Have you ever felt like you can’t figure out your purpose in this world? Sure its the usual we’ve heard all our lives… being a good servant of God and a good person, but besides that, why ARE we here? For the life of me, I can’t seem to figure that out just yet. Am I merely here just to fill a void? Just be a person who cleans and picks up after people? Just a feeding bottle to my baby? Just here to be emotionally ignored by people around me? Is everyone around me really that oblivious, or am I asking too much? These thoughts just haunts me day and night and its slowly but surely killing my spirit.

I miss my old self. The carefree person with a big bright smile plastered on my face most of the time. The person who can laugh for hours with her friends and family. That person seem so lost to me now. Now, all I have is a permanent worryline on my forehead, a constant headache and tears. Even when I meet up with friends and family, all we do is talk about problems and the unjustness of life. Isn’t it ironic that back then we were dreaming of where we are now, and now that we’ve achieved those dreams, we long for the good ol’ days and your good ol’ self?

I feel that my only bright light in this humdrum life is my angel Deena. She is the one person whose face lights up every time I enter the room. The only person who wants and needs me as much as I want and need her. The only person who makes living this hollow life worthwhile. So everyday, I go around like a robot doing all my chores and responsibilities, until I finally come home to my baby. Only then will I feel that everything is right in this world… or at least, until tomorrow comes.

Mommie & Baby Milestones

Heyyy…..

Methinks the exhaustion is back. Can’t seem to keep my eyelids open past 11pm!!! Last night I even fell asleep while watching my favourite CSI Vegas… and that almost NEVER happens!!! What the heck is wrong with me?? Huhuhu…

It could be the fact that my sinus is acting up.. again. Can’t seem to stop sneezing from morning till high noon, and that results in me walking around like a zombie for the rest of the day (hence the exhaustion). And I’ve tried almost everything… taken sinus medication from the doc, took some herbal vites my mom gave me, drank one too many vitamin C drinks… stuffed a tissue up my nose (gross, I know, but I’m running out of ideas!!!). Each remedy only helps for a while or a day, and then I’ll have to start all over again… I don’t wanna be dependant on medication for the rest of my life! Argh… If any of you have some alternative remedies in mind, do let me know coz I’m open to suggestions…

Anywayz, fortunately there’s some good news for me in the past week. For some of you who knows, Deena was sick again last weekend — high fever and some spots on her body — and the doc diagnosed it as Viral Fever after conducting a bloodtest. I know its not really good news, but its a definite relief that its not Dengue or Measles… huhu! Deena’s fever and spots have now subsided, and she’s overcome with renewed energy and cheerfulness. She can’t seem to keep still for long, always grabbing or chewing on something and when I clap and sing to her she will dance or move her hands and legs… Sooo cute! Here’s some of Deena’s latest achievements and antics:

# Rolling over and over till she falls off her mat/mattress

# Attempting to scoot forward on her tummy but ends up going round and round or backwards.. haha

# Waved me goodbye when I send her off before going to work

# Playing the "musical keyboard" on her walker

# Clapping along to "Tepuk Amai Amai"… with her feet!

# When we stand her up on her feet, she will dance — moving her hips to and fro and bending her knees while waving her arms around!

# Sticking her tongue out and blowing her spit out from between her lips and tongue… naughty! *NEW*

# Sitting up all by herself! *NEW*

I just can’t wait to go home everyday to see what new trick she has up her sleeve… huhu. Playing with her after a long day at the office is definitely a cure for all my aches and pains. I’m sure all you mothers out there know what I’m talking about… hehe.

Oh and one more good news… I’m back to my pre-pregnancy weight! Woohooooo!!! I found this out while waiting for our turn to see Deena’s doc the other day, and the weight scale was simply "beckoning" me over. I admit, I haven’t had the guts to step on a weight scale since giving birth… the thought of seeing that my weight was still 10kg or more over my normal weight is just too much of a disappointment for me to handle a few months ago, but since I could wear my old pre-pregnancy slacks again, I gained the courage to finally step on a scale. I cannot describe the relief and happiness I felt!

But I’m still not completely satisfied… far from it! I hope to lose a couple more kilos… preferably back to my pre-marriage weight and of course, attempt to lose the mommie-pouch I got from pregnancy. Which means… I need to cut down on the carb-heavy food and the frappuccinos (YEAH RIGHT!!! hahaha). No, seriously, I need to get some exercise. But how??? I can hardly find some "Me Time" nowadays. Perhaps I need to reevaluate my weekly schedule and see what I can squeeze in and do without. Wish me luck!
